1. Identify plants that genuinely lack light

The brightness perceived by our eyes does not directly measure the useful lighting for foliage.

Stems stretching towards the window, more spaced-out internodes, or smaller new leaves can be warning signs. However, these signs are not enough to make a diagnosis: asphyxiated roots, pests, and nutrient deficiencies can also alter growth. Examine the entire plant and the soil before purchasing a light.

Group species according to their needs rather than pot color. A cool-dormant cactus and a growing tropical plant are not automatically managed with the same program. For an unknown species, find its name and consult a reliable cultivation guide.

Start with simple improvements: cleaning dirty windows, reasonably moving pots closer to the light without contact with a cold pane, or pulling back a curtain. The light then becomes a targeted supplement, not an excuse to keep an unsuitable location.

2. Install lights above a defined area

Delimit the pots to be lit and check the solidity of the support. A light shelf, decorative curtain rod, or ill-suited hook should not bear a suspended device. Follow the fixing accessories and ventilation clearances specified in the instructions, without improvising a mounting on leaves or stakes.

Position the panel so that the light reaches the affected foliage. A large pot placed in front of several smaller plants can obscure them. Two distributed sources can help organize two areas; this does not prove that they cover a precise surface at a given intensity.

If a plant grows, remeasure the space between its highest part and the panel. The distance from the shelf is no longer representative. For pots of different sizes, create homogeneous groups or reposition plants rather than dangerously moving the source closer to the tallest one.

For duration, consider the natural light received and the species. A period of darkness is still necessary; leaving the light on twenty-four hours a day is not a reliable shortcut. Avoid imposing a single duration on a dormant plant and active young plants.

A timer adapted to the installation's load facilitates regularity. It is not advertised as an accessory in the presented set: check its compatibility separately. Note the chosen schedule and modify only one parameter at a time to understand the effects of your setting.

4. Observe new growth rather than seeking immediate results

Take a reference photo with comparable lighting and note the date, location, and schedule. Primarily observe the evolution of new leaves and new stems. An old damaged leaf does not necessarily become perfect again when conditions improve.

Foliage that pales, discolors, or appears dry near the source requires checking. Reduce excessive exposure according to the instructions and also look for watering or heat problems. Do not automatically confuse a different color under the LEDs with an actual change in the leaf.

Avoid overdoing it: if the plant seems weak, simultaneously increasing light, fertilizer, and water makes diagnosis difficult. First, check the soil and root condition when necessary. Additional lighting does not provide a fixed watering frequency; temperature, pot size, and substrate still matter.

Re-evaluate the installation when brighter days return. The program useful in the dead of winter may become excessive in spring, especially near a sunny window. This gradual adaptation limits unnecessary expenses and maintains consistent monitoring.

5. Separate water, connections, and maintenance operations

Install connections in a dry, stable, and accessible area. No water protection rating is confirmed here, so do not consider these lights waterproof. Keep them away from splashes, persistent condensation, and foliage sprays.

Before mechanical adjustment or cleaning, turn off the power and allow the device to cool according to its instructions. Never pull on the cable to move a panel. Check the sheaths, plugs, and suspension points; a damaged part must be repaired before re-use.

Keep ventilation openings clear and do not enclose a panel under fabric. Do not look directly at the LEDs from a short distance and organize the space to limit access for children and pets. A clean setup facilitates both pot maintenance and cable inspection.
