How to choose an angle grinder or a wall chaser?

This collection brings together cordless mini-grinders, 125 mm angle grinders, and a guided wall chaser. It is suitable for cutting and deburring metal, certain work on stone or construction materials, as well as making chases, with very different formats depending on access and desired depth.

The four technical points to compare

  • Disc diameter: A small disc promotes precision and access; the 125 mm covers many common tasks. Never use a diameter not authorized by the guard.
  • Speed and material: The disc must be suitable for the material and the maximum speed of the machine. Cutting, deburring, and chasing use separate consumables.
  • Depth and guiding: A wall chaser provides dedicated adjustment and guidance for chasing. A grinder remains more versatile but does not automatically reproduce this control.
  • Power supply and ergonomics: Cordless facilitates occasional interventions; corded supports continuous work. Handle, guard, and balance are essential for control.

Mini-grinder, 125 mm, or wall chaser?

The mini-grinder is suitable for small cuts and touch-ups in a confined space. The 125 mm format is more suitable for profiles, sheets, deburring, and common cuts with the appropriate disc. To create regular passages in a compatible wall, choose the wall chaser and its adjustment system rather than an improvised cut.

Guard, dust, and disc inspection

Keep the guard and auxiliary handle in place, work with both hands, and wear safety glasses or a face shield, hearing protection, and appropriate respiratory protection. Inspect the disc, respect its direction and maximum speed, then let the machine reach its operating speed before contact. Do not twist the disc in the cut. Unplug or remove the battery for any adjustments and clear dust from the vents after use.
