2. Create categories useful for your work

Start with the categories you actually use: wood screws, metric screws, nuts, washers, and identified anchors. Within each category, then separate the frequently used dimensions. Overly detailed categorization from the start can fill all bins with rarely used parts.
For a screw, note diameter, length, head type, and drive type. Add material or grade when known and useful. Do not confuse visual resemblance with outdoor compatibility or mechanical resistance.
For anchors, keep the reference and manufacturer's instructions together. The drill diameter, associated screw, and accepted substrate must remain retrievable. A card stored behind the bin or a code referring to documentation is safer than relying on memory.

3. Install bins at an accessible height

Each bin of the model shown measures 137 × 105 × 78 mm. Check that parts fit without dangerously overflowing and that your quantity fits without overloading. Long rods or large boxes of fasteners require a different format.
Assemble the shelf according to the instructions and place it on a stable, horizontal, and sufficiently strong support. The freestanding configuration does not mean it can be installed on the edge of a narrow shelf or in a passageway exposed to impacts.
Place frequently used references in the easiest-to-reach area. Distribute loads to maintain stability and respect manufacturer's limits. The advertised weight of the empty unit does not allow you to deduce the permissible load for each bin.
Keep storage away from grinding sparks, very abundant dust, and humid areas. An open bin facilitates visibility but does not isolate its contents. If the workshop produces a lot of dust, plan for a compatible layout or protection that remains easy to use.
4. Label dimensions consistently

Adopt the same order of information everywhere. For example: family, diameter × length, drive type, reference. This consistency avoids reading each label differently. Write large enough to distinguish the bins from your usual position.
Specify the length convention when several types of screws coexist. The measurement of a flat head is not always read the same as that of a protruding head. Rely on the manufacturer's designation rather than creating an approximate reference.
Add a small minimum stock indication if it helps you prepare purchases. This can be a quantity specific to your consumption, not a universal threshold. For a common reference, keep a separate reserve clearly linked to the dispensing bin.
Avoid ambiguous labels like "solid," "outdoor," or "universal" without documentation. Visible storage should improve fastener selection, not create false assurance. A properly stored anchor still needs to be chosen based on the project's substrate and load.
5. Maintain the organization without spending all day on it

Provide a small return tray for unused parts during work. Store them after identification, instead of pouring them into the first available bin. This short step prevents the system from degrading after a few projects.
When you open a new bag, check that it exactly matches the existing contents before adding it. A similar length or different drive type deserves a separate bin or packaging. Maintain useful traceability for specific references.
Dust the PP bins with a gentle method and dry them before putting the screws back. Inspect metal fasteners stored in humid areas. Do not mask active corrosion by simply mixing parts with new stock.
Re-evaluate the classification based on usage: group rarely used references in identified bags, and free up space for those consumed weekly. The best organization is the one you can easily maintain.
