First, tack weld the joint in several places to limit movement. Check for squareness, then weld in an order that distributes heat. Too slow a speed accumulates heat and overfills the bead; too fast, it can leave a narrow and insufficiently fused bead.

5. Inspect the bead, correct, and maintain the welder
