1. Draw the circle and identify the part to keep

First, determine whether you want to keep a disk or create an opening in a panel. The side of the line to cut changes: the blade width should pass through the waste, not reduce the useful piece. Clearly mark the area to be removed before starting.
Use a compass or a stable template to draw the circle. Check its center and diameter in several places. A thick line leaves too much uncertainty; prefer a fine, visible line, without multiplying superimposed corrections.
Check distances to edges and existing fixings. An opening too close to an end can weaken the panel. For a piece intended to receive a precise element, measure that element and its necessary clearance rather than deducing the diameter from a photo.
Allow for a small finishing margin appropriate to the desired precision. This allows for slight correction of the edge after sawing, but a large drawing error cannot simply be corrected by sanding. If the piece needs to fit precisely, first test it on a comparable scrap piece.
2. Choose a blade for curves and a compatible mount

A narrow blade designed for curved cuts follows a small radius better than a wide blade intended for straight cuts. It must also be suitable for the type of wood, thickness, and desired finish. Check the mounting accepted by the machine: not all blades can be mounted interchangeably.
The blade must maintain sufficient working length throughout its stroke. A blade that is too short can hit or snag the underside. Conversely, a long, flexible blade is not automatically more precise in a small thickness.

3. Secure the panel and prepare the starting cut

Place the panel on stable supports and secure it with appropriate holding devices. Inspect the underside along the entire path: the blade must not encounter any workbench, clamp, or cable. Do not hold a small piece simply by hand during sawing.
For an internal opening, make an entry hole in the waste area, large enough to insert the blade without forcing it. Hold the panel and use a compatible drill bit. Do not drill on the useful line if it risks damaging the edge to be kept.
A disc cut accessible from the edge can start with an approach in the waste. Anticipate the exit of this approach to avoid creating a notch on the circle. The trajectory must remain progressive, without sharp turns imposed on the blade.
Support the part that will detach to prevent it from falling or closing the cut on the blade. This support must be independent and not place a hand under the cut. If a support needs to be moved, stop the machine, wait for it to immobilize, and secure everything before resuming.
4. Cut the circle in the wood without forcing rotation

Wear appropriate protection for projections, noise, and dust. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Organize the cable behind the progression and use compatible dust extraction when provided, without obstructing the view of the line.
Place the base plate flat on the workpiece and start the cut according to the instructions in the manual. Advance steadily, following the circle, without pushing the blade laterally. The machine should change direction smoothly; it does not pivot in place like a compass.
Adjust the feed rate to the resistance. If the blade flexes, if the machine vibrates strongly, or if the wood burns, stop and find the cause: unsuitable, worn, or jammed blade, or incorrect speed. Speeding up the movement does not resolve these faults.
For a radius that the blade cannot follow correctly, re-evaluate the tool or method. Relief cuts in the waste can be useful in certain configurations, but they must be prepared without weakening the preserved part. Do not continue a curve that has become uncontrollable.
As you near the end, ensure the waste remains supported. Do not attempt to catch it while the blade is rotating. Stop the machine and wait for it to come to a complete stop before lifting it or removing the piece.
5. Check the edge and adjust gradually

Unplug before any work on the blade. Then examine the circle top and bottom: a deviation may be barely visible on the marked side. Check the diameter and, if necessary, the perpendicularity of the edge at several positions.
Sand irregularities with a suitable curved support, removing little material at a time. Do not try to achieve the correct diameter in a single aggressive pass. Regularly re-present the element to be inserted, without forcing it into an opening that is still too small.
For a disc, maintain an even distribution of the finish around the perimeter. Prolonged sanding in a single spot creates a flat spot. Remove protruding fibers and prepare the edges according to the future finish.
